A petition was filed against the increasing circulation of women and child pornography in the community, and the recording of such pornographic materials and publishing through the internet- either by young couples who record voluntarily, or by criminals who record through fraud or coercion.
The High Court issued a Rule Nisi upon the respondents to show cause as to why they should not be directed to take immediate short term and long term steps to prevent the abuse of information technology, which is being used to spread pornographic materials among the people of different ages and classes through websites, mobile phones, VCD, CD, printed magazines etc. and for the protection of private lives of people residing in Bangladesh.
